MILWAUKEE, WI - Movie about Catholic priest sex abuse scandal makes US premiere in Milwaukee. The controversy over the Catholic priest sex abuse scandal hits the big screen. Five Deaf men who led the first known public protest against clerical sex abuse in the United States.



Not only that, but Friday night is the US premiere of the film. It's called Mea Maxima Culpa: Silence In The House Of God a documentary focused on the sexual assaults within the church right here in Milwaukee. With bright lights, ticket lines, even a red carpet, the event had all the trimmings of a blockbuster premiere.





The film brought a message to the big screen. Telling the story of hundreds of young men abused by Father Lawrence Murphy, the headmaster at St. John's School for the Deaf in St. Francis. Showing the film to many of the victims themselves, filmmaker Alex Gibney uses the documentary to expose their pain and the cover-up by the Catholic Church... A Southern Oregon non-profit showed a national TV audience just how much it is making a difference in people's lives today. This as Central Point's Dogs for the Deaf was invited to be a special guest on NBC's syndicated show, "The Doctors."



NBC5's Laura Cavanaugh reports. The Rogue Valley's own Carrie Brooks took center stage in front of a national television audience Thursday on the set of NBC's "The Doctors." The certified dog trainer demonstrated how highly trained dogs, like Bonsai, help work sounds for those with hearing loss.

BOSTON, MA. - Taylor Swift is giving $10,000 and concert tickets to a Boston school for the Deaf after a prank involving an online contest promising an on-campus performance by the Grammy-winning singer.



Horace Mann School for the Deaf in Boston was disqualified from the contest because many of the votes were from Internet pranksters who thought it would be funny for a school for the Deaf to win tickets to a live concert.





The Boston Globe reports that instead, Swift and contest sponsors will donate a combined $50,000 to the school, and U.S. cable channel VH1’s Save the Music program will donate $10,000 in musical instruments...
