VIDEO [CC] - Deaf Taiwanese dancer Lin Ching Lan proves naysayers wrong - SK-II #changedestiny stories.
TAIPEI -- Lin Ching Lan is founder of Taiwan’s first troupe for Deaf dancers. Her story is beautiful. She was born with a hearing impairment, but she has not let that control her life. Her goal was to be a dancer…she just wanted to dance!
Schools and Teachers told her she would never dance because she couldn’t hear the music but…she can feel the music. We can use her as an example for when people tell us we can't do something…you can prove them wrong, if you work at it!
In the 1970s, SK2 scientists began a fervent quest to uncover a skincare ingredient that would make beautiful skin a reality for every woman.
Across land and sea, they sought for the answer. Despite researching a myriad of possibilities, the secret they were looking for long eluded them.
It was only by happenstance that the scientists eventually found themselves in a simple sake brewery where they chanced upon the soft and youthful hands of aged sake brewers. The breath-taking sight was the inspiration of the skincare miracle they would eventually uncover – a destiny of beauty was finally within reach. Source

VIDEO [CC] New Year message from Koko the Gorilla, who urges humanity to stop destroying the planet goes viral.
Koko the Gorilla has used sign language to deliver a 60 second message telling humans to stop killing the earth has been making the rounds on the Internet in recent days.
Given by a gorilla in American Sign Language, it is among the more unusual messages for the New Year. Koko was filmed delivering a 38-word bulletin about how ‘stupid’ mankind is harming the Earth.
In the 60-second video, the 44-year-old great ape, which has been learning sign language since she was one, said: ‘I am gorilla, I am flowers, animals. I am nature. Koko love man. Earth Koko love.
‘But man stupid… stupid! Koko sorry, Koko cry. Time hurry. Fix Earth! Help Earth! Hurry! Protect Earth. Nature watches you. Thank you.’
The message was scripted by NOE Conservation, based in France, whose main focus is preserving biodiversity, and The Gorilla Foundation in Woodside, California, where Koko has lived since 1979, immersed in human company.
She is said to be able to understand 1,000 words of American Sign Language and 2,000 words of spoken English, but there has been controversy about whether her own use of signs is simple, reward-related mimicry or something more meaningful.
The video was made to help get NOE Conservation’s message across for the recent UN Climate Conference in Paris.
A spokesman for The Gorilla Foundation: ‘Because of her unique ability to communicate with humans in sign language, Koko is a natural ambassador for endangered species.
‘We presented her with a script drafted by NOE and allowed her to improvise during a series of brief daily video discussion sessions. The result was edited from a number of separate takes, for brevity and continuity.’ The spokesman said Koko had to learn ‘a few new signs’ for the video including ‘protect’ and ‘nature’.
What most people don't know, however, is that Koko was an avid Robin Williams' movie fan. As ET reported, when Robin Williams took a trip out to meet Koko for the show, not only did Koko immediately wrap her arms around Williams and embrace him, she did what she'd always seen him do onscreen.
VIDEO [CC] - Watching this viral video of Deaf husband find out he's going to be a dad will melt you.
Get ready for your heart to turn into a puddle. Brittany LeBlanc Welch recently shared a video of her husband, David, who is Deaf, finding out that she's pregnant. Of all the pregnancy reveal videos I've ever seen, this one definitely ranks near the top in terms of sheer emotional impact.
Welch said she recorded the video back in October. "I was a few weeks pregnant and found out earlier that day," she said. Watch original video with closed captioning: https://youtu.be/lMqjpnre0U8
First, he opens up some rather puzzling gifts including a "Baby" Ruth bar and "Dad's" Old Fashioned Root Beer (get it?). Then at the very end, he gets two positive pregnancy tests. Make sure you have all the tissues handy because once you see his emotional reaction, you're going to need them. Source

VIDEO [CC] - Deaf Pastor Who Turned Atheist Is 'Vengeful, Pathological Liar' Who Needs to 'Repent;' CNN Article Is 'Full of Lies,' Says Old Church.
ChristianPost.com - Pastor of the Virtual Deaf Church, Justin Vollmar, says he is now an atheist.
After claiming in an explosive CNN article Monday that he began losing his faith in God after being overworked and underpaid at a church run by a tyrannical, golf-loving pastor who made $80,000 a year, Deaf pastor turned atheist, Justin Vollmar, is being dismissed as a "vengeful, pathological liar," who needs to "repent" of his sins by his old church.
"The word that he is spreading about myself and the church is not good and we are going to have to shun him until he is ready to apologize to us. But apparently he is choosing a worse road. I believe the devil is winning him," said Terry Michael Buchholz, senior pastor of the Hampshire View Baptist Deaf Church in Silver Spring, Maryland., where Vollmar worked for seven years.
Vollmar ran the Virtual Deaf Church online for four years before proclaiming in a YouTube video Friday that he is now an atheist, renouncing the virgin birth and the belief that Jesus is the Son of God who was raised from the dead, as well as the Bible being the word of God.
"There is no such thing as Holy Spirit. Word of God is NOT inspired God-breathed book. Church is completely men's invention. All I believe previously as a Christian have been…has been turned upside," he said in complete renunciation of his faith.
"I am coming out of closet. I no longer believe in God. I am an Atheist now. This video explains my journey to doubt."
On Monday, he detailed his descent into atheism in a first-person account published by CNN. He charged that he began losing his faith in Christianity after an experience with an unnamed Christian senior pastor at a church in Silver Spring, Md.
Vollmar said he was made to work "for little pay" for seven years while the senior pastor pulled down a salary of $80,000 a year and lived a life of leisure.
"I was a pastor in Silver Spring, Maryland, working 60 hours a week for little pay. My senior pastor was a harsh taskmaster, scolding me and always pushing me to work harder. Meanwhile, he earned $80,000 a year and played golf two times a week. I lived in poverty and did not see my children much. I got burned out," wrote Vollmar.
"I resigned my position and was shunned by the church. My faith in God was severely shaken. I started to have doubts about the Bible's claims. I questioned whether God's love, which is supposed to reside inside Christians, was real," he said.
In Vollmar's work history on his Linkedin profile, he lists himself as a vlogger and community leader shows that he worked as an associate pastor at Hampshire View Baptist Deaf Church in Silver Spring, Md.
The Christian Post contacted the church on Wednesday, and church worker Dan Nemeth as well as pastor Buchholz disputed several of the claims Vollmar makes in the article, and called him a liar. ... VIDEO: Sign Language Frees Cambodian Deaf From 'Prison'
PHNOM PENH - At a hairdresser's shop in the Cambodian capital, there is none of the usual chit chat you might expect when getting a haircut because the barbers are all Deaf.
They have graduated from the only education course for Deaf adults in Cambodia, where the vast majority of people with hearing problems never had the opportunity to learn sign language.
"I didn't have any contact outside of my family. It was like being in prison. I was stuck there. I couldn't do anything. I didn't have any money. I didn't have any education," barber trainee Oeun Darong, 27, explained in Cambodian Sign Language. Until the late 1990s, Cambodia was one of the few countries in the world without its own sign language.
But that is changing thanks to the work of American priest Charlie Dittmeier, who began to develop the kingdom's own version with help from foreign linguists and researchers after he was posted in the Southeast Asian nation 13 years ago.
"We get people coming to us at the age of 25, 30, 35. They have never been to school a day in their life. They have no language," said Dittmeier.
His Deaf Development Program (DDP) is one of only two groups running schools for people with hearing problems in Cambodia. The other one is for children.
About 30 Deaf students aged 16 or older are currently taking a two-year course at the DDP centre in Phnom Penh, learning simple sign language, writing, reading and other life skills, said Dittmeier.
A third year is spent in job training like at the barber shop, where the students receive instructions given in sign language on how to offer hair cuts, shaves and ear cleaning.
