VIDEO [CC] - Deaf News: #WhopperSign - Burger King's finally speaks, by signing, for American Sign Language Day near Gallaudet University campus.

WASHINGTON DC -- Burger King asks fans to come up with a Whopper sign by Tim Nudd. The days when he would pop up, unannounced, in your bed in the morning, Burger King's King character has never actually spoken a single word, preferring to let his creepily silent visage speak for him. But now, to celebrate National American Sign Language Day, the King is speaking up by signing.

And he's asking BK fans to come up with an official sign for the Whopper sandwich. #WhopperSign.

"The Burger King brand is built not only on including everyone, but celebrating everyone," Fernando Machado, the fast-food chain's svp of global brand management, said in a statement. "National ASL Day felt like a perfect opportunity for the King to extend our brand mantra and engage with the ASL community on such a great day."

It also has the King interpreting a recent TV spot in ASL, as you can see below.

BK has also created an ASL version of its logo, and is making a scholarship donation benefiting students who are dedicating their studies to ASL language and interpretations. SOURCE
VIDEO [CC] - Deaf Taiwanese dancer Lin Ching Lan proves naysayers wrong - SK-II #changedestiny stories.

TAIPEI -- Lin Ching Lan is founder of Taiwan’s first troupe for Deaf dancers. Her story is beautiful. She was born with a hearing impairment, but she has not let that control her life. Her goal was to be a dancer…she just wanted to dance!

Schools and Teachers told her she would never dance because she couldn’t hear the music but…she can feel the music. We can use her as an example for when people tell us we can't do something…you can prove them wrong, if you work at it!

In the 1970s, SK2 scientists began a fervent quest to uncover a skincare ingredient that would make beautiful skin a reality for every woman.

Across land and sea, they sought for the answer. Despite researching a myriad of possibilities, the secret they were looking for long eluded them.

It was only by happenstance that the scientists eventually found themselves in a simple sake brewery where they chanced upon the soft and youthful hands of aged sake brewers. The breath-taking sight was the inspiration of the skincare miracle they would eventually uncover – a destiny of beauty was finally within reach. Source

Deaf News: HIV is a gay disease... like it or not... Queer people not happy with campaign ad in California.

LOS ANGELES -- Daily Kos: At least it is according to a controversial new ad campaign being deployed around Los Angeles on billboards and in print. And who is doing this? Not some radical conservative group, but the Gay & Lesbian Center of Los Angeles.

In this day and age, when you would think that we have come so far in the struggle to get middle America to embrace the fact that this is not a disease with an orientation, this comes along and is making waves even in conservative circles and feeding the fodder.

Response in the LGBT community has been strong, and according to many of the postings on the discussion board at the Own It. End It. website, not everyone is happy with it.

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a Gay Disease? Are you kidding? For those of us living with the shame and fear of being HIV positive, I'm angry. For those who've lived long enough to see the world begin to accept HIV as more then a gay disease, I'm offended. For those who expect more from our gay organizations, I'm disappointed. Most people will only read your flashy tag line and that's what they'll promote. This world is filled with misinformation, due to our short attention spans. Most people get there information from bits and pieces propagated by the evening news or a flashy headline. I expected more from your center. While the details of your ad are most likely accurate, you've done an injustice to your community. You've flown off course and I'm saddened by your decision to promote this hateful headline.

The Los Angeles Times article regarding the controversial campaign was quick to point out that the billboards will not use the "HIV is a Gay Disease" tag, but instead will simply say "Own It. End It." I frankly don't think that this distinction makes it OK. Own what? This has generated enough attention in L.A., at this point, that the casual observer know exactly what the billboards are asking gay men to do. Take ownership of a disease they didn't create. How can you ask us as a community to own something that has affected millions globally? And to a much greater degree worldwide the heterosexual populaion? It boggles the mind...

Personally, I'm not comfortable with this at all. Gay men have fought this stigma from the very beginning of this disease. To have it come full circle in an shock tactic campaign, even in the interest of public awareness, is not cool. And before anyone says, "Look, it says clearly in the ad that they don't believe that it is a disease with an `orientation'" let me tell you something:

I have taken enough marketing classes and seminars to understand that the initial impact of the bolded taglines is whatthe average driver on the streets of L.A. will remember, or the average reader skimming a magazine will read. This does a disservice to the disease, and to those stigmatized by employers, insurance companies, familes, and the public at large.

VIDEO [CC] - Bad Lip Reading's Ted Cruz ad is a hilarious delight.

The most memorable Ted Cruz ad of 2016 came this week via Bad Lip Reading. And while it’s a complete satire, we feel confident watching it will be the funniest three minutes of your day.

To activate this feature, press the "CC" button.

Cruz barely appeared in Bad Lip Reading’s GOP debate parody, but here we get a pretty nice impression of the candidate delivering the following sage lines:

“Death will find you soon. Not sure you’ll be remembered.”

“You got happy cheer, hrmmmgh!"

“I just love to twerk. Holla holla holla holla holla holla.”

“I need a bogel for the glotch.”

Thank you, Bad Lip Reading. Always.
