Though he never cared much about spoilers in the first place.

Ian McShane, an actor best known for his foul-mouthed role in Deadwood, made his long-awaited appearance on Game of Thrones Sunday night. It was an appearance that everyone saw coming, thanks to his loose lips about spoilers.

In Season Six, Episode Seven, "The Broken Man," McShane plays Brother Ray, a peaceful ex-killer who teaches the Hound (who, yes, is still alive) about nonviolence—only to be murdered by a trio who may be part of the Brotherhood Without Banners.

"I'm like the leader of this sort of group of people who don't believe in violence anymore," McShane said in a video released by HBO. "So obviously I'm not going to last for more than one episode."
He also talked to Entertainment Weekly about the process. "Well, they wrote a two-page speech–so that's why they invited me. It's a big soliloquy, like in Deadwood, and they needed to get somebody who could do that," he said. "It was one episode, for a start, which is why I wanted to do it."
In classic McShane form, he also pretty neatly summed up what it's like to film a death scene: "It's very easy. You just have to hold your breath for 10 seconds and look sufficiently dead for them to get it."
After getting in trouble about spoiling what his role was on the show, McShane had commented that the show is "only tits and dragons." McShane said HBO loved that comment. After all, post-Deadwood, they knew who they were dealing with.
